Sewing Time – Studio Table Rental

Sewing Time is designed for you to come in and rent a machine to work on projects. In from out of town and need to repair something, but don’t have a sewing machine?

Use mine for $25 per hour. Do you have kids running around and can’t seem to make time to work on your projects? This is a perfect solution for you to get some time!

Sewing Time – Fees and Costs

Rental options: You must know how to thread and operate the machines before attending a drop-in session. Please book a private lesson so I can teach you how to use the rental machines!

Table Rental with Assistance – assistance, but not a private lesson
This is not a private lesson. – $25 per hour
I will be available during this time to assist with tasks such as pattern fitting and pinning, and to address any questions about confusing directions. However, I will be working around the studio at the same time with other students.

If you need a lot of help, consider booking a private lesson for that project.

Dates/Times

Please remember to text the studio the night before. This will allow me to plan the day and structure the sewing.
On weekends, I can usually accommodate Sewing Time without assistance, as I typically host private lessons and group classes. However, if you need a space to sew, please text me to confirm I have an open station.

What you need to bring

You must also bring your sewing kit and supplies: specialty needles (Denim, Stretch, Quilting, Topstitch), bobbins, and thread for the machines.

For the sewing machines, we use Brother SA156 bobbins.

If using my machine, I also request that you have Gutermann thread; I carry it for $2.19 a spool.

For the sergers and coverstitch machines, you will need 4 spools for the serger and 3-4 for the coverstitch machine. I like this type of thread. (We do NOT currently sell serger thread at the studio)

***If you need to use a sewing machine or a coverstitch machine, you must know how to use them before coming to drop in. Booking a private lesson first would be the best way to learn.

Fine print

As a small business, if you damage or break the machine, you will be responsible for either fixing it or paying for a replacement. If you use my machines and a needle breaks, you will be required to replace it. If you need a specialty needle, you will need to bring your own or purchase one from the studio.
I change my needles every 6 – 8hours of sewing time.

Other Info about Sewing Time

You will have access to cutting tables, irons, and ironing boards. Each station has a Brother CS6000i and a Brother 1034D Serger.

To use ANY machine, you must have taken the classes or have comparable skills learned in those classes. You must know how to use the machine confidently.

Serger and the Coverstitch machine are separate fees.

You will be responsible for your own supplies and notions, such as thread and specialty needles (E.g., Stretch, Quilting, Denim, or twin needles).

The studio does carry a wide variety of notions, patterns, fabrics, and supplies. You are also required to bring your sewing kit. If you don’t have one, you will need to purchase your kit supplies from the studio.

Please bring your piecing foot, rotary cutter, and rulers if you plan to quilt. I do have self-healing mats available.

I do have some patterns, notions, and fabric for sale at the studio, but the selection is limited; I am not a full-fledged fabric shop.
